Brett Holman has said that he is doing his best in order to keep AZ Alkmaar in the hunt for the Dutch league title this season. AZ Alkmaar won their match against VVV Venlo at home by two goals to one.
Brett Holman open the scoring for AZ Alkmaar in the 2-1 victory, which means that the club will at least be now targeting for the Champions League group stage qualification even if they do not win the title this season. The goal against VVV Venlo was his seventh goal of the season, in what is turning to be an impressive season for the hosts.
Quin Kruijsen scored in the 59th minute to get the equaliser for VVV Venlo and also to cancel out the opener by Brett Holman. However, it did not take long for AZ Alkmaar to get the lead through American Jozy Altidore. The American scored just 6 min after Quin Kruijsen had scored the equaliser for VVV Venlo. The result meant that AZ Alkmaar remain six points behind Ajax in the race for the Dutch league title. However, it is quite be extremely tough for them to win the title this season, as there are only three matches left in the season.
Brett Holman also revealed that he was extremely satisfied to see Aston Villa gain a point against Sunderland during the weekend. Even though Aston Villa are up against the prospect of fighting against relegation, Brett Holman believes that the team is good enough to survive in the Premier league. Aston Villa are currently five points above the relegation zone with only four matches remaining in the season. Holman believes that another point in the remaining four matches will be enough to see Aston Villa through to the end without any major worries of relegation.
