AZ Alkmaar striker Jozy Altidore has revealed that he wants to stay at the Dutch club for the next two years at least during which time he plans to become one of the best in Dutch football. After a couple of failed spells in European clubs like Hull city, Altidore has been managing to score lots of goals with the Dutch club AZ Alkmaar. This has attracted attention from several top clubs like Aston Villa and Catania. He has been linked with summer move away from AZ Alkmaar. However, the striker intends to stay at the Dutch club for the next two years.
He has said that contract still has two years left to run and he intends to see it through. The United States international had a highly productive season last time around after he managed to find the back of the net on 31 occasions in just 41 matches. Aston Villa recently experienced a lot of success with the signing of Christian Benteke. They are reportedly looking at Altidore in order to replace Darren Bent, who has been widely linked with a move away from the club. Bent featured in his first games since September on the final day of the season.
“There is a lot of talk about my future but I have a two-year contract with AZ. I think it’s a good plan to stay with such a competitive team, and I know this club will help me further my career,” said Altidore regarding his future. Despite his impressive performances in front of goal, AZ Alkmaar were able to finish only in the 10th position last season. As a result, they will be without any kind of European football for the 2013-14 season. This may be a reason to persuade Altidore for a move away from the club.
