Fabio Capello has said that he is going to remain in charge of the Russia national football team until his contract expires. It means that he will oversee Russia’s preparation for the next World Cup.
After Russia’s disappointing show in this year’s World Cup, Capello was tipped to be removed from his position, but, eventually, the Russian union decided to stick with the Italian.
There were a couple of meetings between Capello and people of the union last week and thereafter, it’s been confirmed that there will be no change in the coaching staff of the national side.
Russia had failed to win any match in the 2014 World Cup after which the fans were fumed and were asking for Capello’s head. The William hill soccer betting coupons suggested that Capello was on his wy out, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.
Some of the Russian national leaders were also very unhappy and they had even criticized Capello publically.
Capello had actually got pissed off by the continuous criticism that he was getting from all the sections in Russia and had threatened to leave his post.
In one of his interviews last month, Capello had said, “The game is a leveller, we all know that. The bad times come as well as the good times, but, what’s important is the belief. You’ve got to believe in the people whom you have handed the responsibility.”
“I do my job honestly and intensely and I need a bit of support. It’s hard to keep working in an environment in which you feel that the people around you don’t have the belief in you.”
The next World Cup is going to be organized in Russia. So, they will have a bit of a home advantage in that tournament and thus, they should do better than what they did in Brazil.
Russia could secure only two points from three matches in the 2014 World Cup.
