There are few high profile players from the Middle East to be part of the Dutch league.
Alireza Jahanbakhsh could be one of them in the near future after the Iranian winger has claimed that the Dutch club AZ Alkmaar are interested in him. After a third place finish last season, it is understood that AZ Alkmaar are willing to invest in some high profile players and potentially challenge for the title. They have never been considered as one of the top dogs in Dutch football due to the presence of Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, and Feyenoord. However, Feyenoord finished three points below AZ last season.
There is a Europa league place waiting for AZ Alkmaar. They can potentially reach the Champions League just by winning this tournament. The presence of goal scoring players his key towards winning any major tournament and AZ Alkmaar have identified Jahanbakhsh as a potential signing. The 21-year-old has revealed that he has had several offers from clubs across the world, but AZ Alkmaar remain the most high-profile among them. It is understood that teams from the MLS and China are interested in him. It is almost certain thatJahanbakhsh will leave his current club NEC Nijmegen now rather than next summer when his contract expires.
“I have a couple offers from Russia, China, the U.S. and Persian Gulf but I don’t want to think about these offers at all. There is a serious offer from AZ Alkmaar which I will consider. I will fly to the Netherland on Wednesday to talk to Alkmaar officials as I want to decide my future in the next two weeks. I have still one year left on my contract with NEC Nijmegen and I won’t reject the possibility of playing another year for them. I will consider all options and make a good decision in the next two weeks,” said Jahanbakhsh.
